Obviously why not but with a changing style of working!  you know a Google (search engine) can give several million answer of a question but a librarian can give a single relevant answer by the help of Google (search engine).  Surfing of net or a digital resource is a different thing and accurate search strategy is something different.

Law of Conservation of Library or Library Professional

In a system Library  neither created digital library nor destroyed but  transformed into another form of library.

agreed

There is no substitute for traditional libraries where we can sit with comfort for reading. No one can get relaxed on computer while reading a book.................

Remember this.........."You can touch the book, You can smell the book, You can feel the book. Even, You can sleep by placing the book on your lap. But, You can not do all these things with a computer." said by Eminent scholar cum writer Dr. Birendaranath Bhattacharya.

Yes there are technology, there is google, there are wikipedia. But they provide information only, not the Knowledge. We, the Librarians are not only Information Provider, but also Knowledge Manager cum Information Provider. Internet is not threat to our profession, Think like, it is simple a service provides within the library.

Our profession is under transition phase. People will come back to our help if we improve upon ourselves. Providing - Right Information to Right People at Right Time - library can fight out its challenges like Google, Wikis, etc. Let the Internet grow more and complex, everybody will get fedup with it and come to our solutions.
