CALIBER-2025 "Library 2047: Democratizing Knowledge towards Viksit Bharat" at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh

November 17, 2025 at 6pm to November 19, 2025 at 7pm
Friday
Being busy professionals, Library personnel always get a stipulated time to express their knowledge in bookish form. That,s why library theory has not developed as much as it should have been. Whatever contribution is there in the field, that is due to conferences, seminars and workshops being conducted by the organizations like ILA, IASLIC, RRRLF etc. So, what technique should the LIS professionals adopt to get themselves published to contribute more to the subject?

In office, each of my day is divided into the following

a) Half an hour for my personal email

b) Half an hour for professional development (LIS Links, Latest Development, Writing papers, up gradation to my knowledge)

c) One hour for my institute website, social networking (institute), official email.

d) Rest are devoted to other official works.

Note: I used to check my personal email and maintain "LIS Links" site by cutting my official work time. However, I used to manage that one hour time by staying late at office. Usually I am available at office till 6.30 pm, though my office used to close at 5.00 (in summer) and at 4.30 (in winter).

In home, I used to be in front of my computer for long hours for professional work or in bed or watching movies in TV.

O! I forgot to mention. I usually spend one hour over mobile.

It,s very hard for everyone to be Badan Barman. Anyway you followed a good routine...that,s why you have earned a good name in LIC community.

Yes if we have some systematic plan or follow a daily routine like this( routine vary upon individuals interest)result will be very fruitful in the field of LIS Research. It is difficult but I am sure I can try. Thanks Badan!

Thank you so much Barmanji for sharing something personal about you it could be a guidance to the lazy boys who always waste there much time on social networking like me thank you so much now I will plan my schedule.
Best of luck Mr. Dixit..............
Thank you so much for your wish Handaji
Only technique is study, study and study, be more knowledgable and share it with the world following guidelines for the authors. Thanks.
But Dr. Ray...it again demand a lot of time from your busy schedula and a lot mre dedication is also required.
It ( study) has to be included as a part of the busy schedule, rather it should say part of life. Thanks.

Yes you are right that we dont get much time to concentrate on writing papers. Because we dont get more professionals at one place. But I would suggest if we start comparison of two or more library use or use patterns it will be nice to produce papers too. Thus I feel collaboration is the key. We all  should try to collaborate with possible links.

VRT

Ya Dr. Vijay..collaboration has always been a key to success. but again it requires a lot of understanding between the peers
I extend my gratitude towards all the LIS professionals who shared their valuable thoughts and experiences regarding this discussion.
