In New UGC Plan and Pay Commission, Librarian Post is Converted to Non Teaching and Low Pay Scale

Dear Professional friends,

Today one senior lecturer of one college was telling that Librarian Post of Senior college is being converted into non-teaching post in new UGC plan and new pay commission and also they will not give librarian the Associate Professor grade of Rs. 37400 in future.

Is anybody know latest about this development.

Please inform and share this in the forum.

Is it really rumor or a serious matter?

Dear Sir,

I'm agree with you as well as all the members those who have given their replay. Now, we have to do some thing. We are the teaching staff. Now we have to start a movement against the UGC.

Sorry, for that but we should do some thing Sir.

Its Just a baseless posting and waste of time i too feel

Dear Sir,

Give maximum publicity about this issue among library professionals. Post a detailed message in LIS Forum  and other popular email discussion forums.

Ok, Now i say, there is nothing like this in the offing, it is just hearsay, this is what i learnt from one of the MHRD officials

Thanks God because myself very much disappointing to hear the news.We always fight for our unity

Dear Pandita,

As it is a public forum, I will not post anything here against MHRD but the reply I got from MHRD regarding Major and Minor Research Project is disappointing to all of us. The appointment of Smriti Irani as Minister of Human Resource Development may change something, but otherwise you should not trust them.

from so many days  this like only going all are talking only , no one take seriously this information. once thing  no unity in library field.we are all take seriously. not only  grade position  also all library field  development in India. always welcome ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Dear Lis Professionals,
As per my knowledge A college Librarian always entitle for Assistant Professor scale i.e. 15600+6000GP not for associate Professor as per UGC Norms, A librarian can get the Associate professor scale only after completing some prescribed years experience as a college librarian. yes A college librarian comes under teaching staff, if ugc is going to change in it then it is wrong thing. We should oppose for it.

Dear all LIS professionals, I am well aware of the disparities met out by library processionals from time to time at all the levels, be it school level, and be it college level or even for that matter at university level.  A feeling of being despised by fellow professional from other sciences is nothing new. My only apprehension is LIS professionals should by no means feel battered by these petty issues and our first and foremost approach to such an age old problem is to regard your profession in high esteem.  There is no need to get panic and unnecessarily carried away with this kind of unsolicited & misleading information when there is nothing in black and white and to react to such word of mouth in haste is prattle, childish & unwarranted and contrary to what LIS profession stands for. By making anticipatory reactions to such hoax information, agencies at the helm of affairs start taking undue advantage of such perplexity, even this kind of presumption is also carried out with the intention to send feelers among the community and the way LIS community has reacted to it, has only enhanced the chances of such disparity to take practical shape. My request to all LIS professionals is that without going into exactness of information there is no need to ponder over such hoax statements. The moment something in black and white come to you, questioning the professional integrity of LIS professionals needs to be crushed (nip in the bud) unitedly with iron fist.

Dear friends,

If it is only a hoax and fussy statement then it’s a great relief for us. But if it really comes in black and white do we have anything to do? Can the library community be able to overcome the situation? I think, we should find the answers to these questions beforehand. Can’t we approach UGC for uniform teaching status, clearly defined leave rules, service conditions, roles and responsibilities etc and re-designating the librarians as assistant professors (LIS)?

All of you professional friends ,
we have already facing in real situation in engineering colleges , junior college and degree college.Even ugc will not give librarian the Associate professor grade what will we do first.i think we have unity . we will fight against ugc.our pioneer S.R.Ranganthan is also fighting against to government to give status to our profession . so please unity is important to our professionals and don't hurt any professional heart because if we have positive thinking and give positive suggestions otherwise ignore. thank you friends with warm regards
