You are right.
But I think Librarian are not getting so much respect that he/she deserve. Although the concept of people are changing but its pace is very slow. Majority of people just think that Libarary job is just issue and return.
So lets join together to change this concept and give information of all the work that we do in library. Dear Leela, Only the librarian will agree with your concept not the general people. Let other also know this. I apreciate your views as a librarian.
it is the job of a librarian to tell others what they are and what they do, they should also respect themselves.
if they think they are just the librarian then it will not solve the problem. They are the information provider they should treat each and every user with respect and in return they will get respect.
I dont think that a Librarian has to told others that what he is doing. In my opinion Librarian has to respect himself and provide services as usual and the time will definatly come when the criticissers shame on themselves. There is no need to prove to a Librarian that what his position, his image is in a Library as well as in a Society.
They don't have to tell each and everyone personally but they can tell them by providing them best services and this will gain respect in the eyes of the users.
Yes Gopal Prasadji, I agree with you that,
"Librarian ka kaam Bolta Hai." and only intellectuals understand this.So percentage of intellectuals should be increased, for which we have to provide Quality intellectual services.
Dear Ashok Kumar,
Doctors get respect because they take care of our Physical Fitness. Are the Librarians taking care of Mental fitness of the society? This is what we have to care about then definitely librarians will be the indispensable part of the society.
"Do undo Thy duty, reward is not thy concern."
Users are our Mirrors. Our services will reflect the impression we hold among them
Yes you are right. if we good things like helping users what they want they tell other users about it but if we don't help users and be rude to them they will never approach to us for help.
Yes. We have to act as Friend Philosopher and Guide to the Readers. Then only they will designate us as Teacher of Teachers.
I personally think. I am the gatekeeper. The research scholar in my institute that comes for some kind of help, always use to tell others. His touch to my research give it a new direction.
Yes Dear, I fully agree with you.Librarians are the Gatekeepers who are careful about the entrance of reader and researcher to right gate to get right, balanced and satisfactory intellectual food.
