Please check that how many library professionals/expert in your college library committee, if no, then let them speak whatever they want. Thanks.

Dead means zero service

Kindly request to your competent authority to ask library committee to define the word 'dead' in context.

The Academic library never die, if it died the Academic institution will die. The Institution should pay their attention to upgrade the services, and to introduce the new ITs. The role of the librarian is very vital to keep the library live. The extension activities like information literacy, book week, user orientation, library talk etc, will make library more dynamic and the Authority may not use the word-dead.

If Library is dead it means whole academic system is dead. Library is a part and parcel ofthe academic institution. when the management say library is dead it means they have not supported to keep the library functioning. Library can not be dead, i am trying to add life in my non functional library before me taking charge.

I strongly support the vision of Ms . Prabha, This is a very important and burning issue for the LIS profession

I want to add that in private schools and colleges management are not supporting the libraries and their function.  They used to STORE the number of books and Journals as per the need or requirement of the  panel and inspection team. They also recruit the staff for only for affiliation purpose. They do not recruit the qualified staff and also don't pay the good salary to library personnel.

So,  if they are saying that library is dead, the whole responsibilities are only of the Management of the  institutions and regulatory bodies who affiliate and recognise these institutions  like CBSE, AICTE, NCTE, MCI, UGC etc.

It is high time for ILA  and other professional associations that they should represent these issues at the national level and put-forth related issues  in front of National and Regional level Government. They should write to all the regulatory bodies that Library Staff should also be approved by these regulatory bodies.

I also Support Dr,Pachauri words and wants to present my opinion that Academic Library is Heart of an Institution. It's a burning issues today.Librarian recruitment today for Private institution only for inspection purpose. It is responsbility for ILA to Present condation of Academic Library condation before govt.body

Happy New Year to all.............

Dr. Vivek Bhatt  Sir, what do you mean by it?, we have one and half month to go for new year. It's not part of this forum also.

We Gujaratis celebrate new year according to Vikarma Samvant.

Where is Adwanis, vajpais' views in BJP, like wise where is sarvepally radhakrishna's Library is HEART of the Institution feeling?

Library is growing organism we all know this law. Library may be dead in those institutes where students

are not interested to take admission and institution are going to close. Library may be dead in those institutions where management are not interested to provide library services and they are not interested to purchasing new books and journals for the students and students standard is also very low in this type of institutes.
