Dear Library Professionals,

Do anybody have any authentic document stating that librarians come under teaching faculty can please mail a copy because many of the professionals are being treated as non teaching staff or administrative staff. Please forward the same or else put a copy on LIS Links so that it will be useful to all the professionals.

Dear Sir
According to UGC
1. "For teachers equivalent positions in library and physical education cadres in UGC maintained universities/colleges and institutions deemed to be universities, the rates of allowances as applicable to Group 'A' employees shall be adopted."

2. "For teachers equivalent positions in library and physical education cadres who have already availed the benefits of increments as per existing policy for acquiring Ph.D./M.Phil. while in service, shall not be advance increments this scheme.
Deepak ji
actually librarians dont come under teaching staff but they are equal to teachers and professors like salary and position. that's it.
We are getting Academic grade pay hence we are academic staff and not administrative staff althou doing certain administrative work
Mr. deepak
yes it is truth that librarian equal to pay and scale but library staff can not get summer vacation like faculty in any institute.

uma
yes I agree with mr. Deepak
U can refer the ugc guidelines for the appointment of Teachers and Librarians. The librarians and teachers both come under the academic staff rest all employees of an institute come under the non academic post.

Hope it will work for you.

Thanks,

if librarians are at par with teachers then why they not entitled for Professional development allowance like faculty.
