From next year, Jan Sangh ideologue Pandit Deen Dyal Upadhaya’s anniversary that falls on September 25 would be celebrated in all educational institutions of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand Governor Sudarshan Agarwal has asked chief secretary of the state to make available all departmental manuals relating to the Right to Information (RTI) Act and approved by the Information Commission to all major libraries, including Raj Bhavan library. Members of Uttarakhand Library Association today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal regarding their demands. Members have demanded that an amendment be made in the Uttaranchal Public Library Act 2005 so that public, academic and research libraries function under a single section.
