Badan Barman

The Indian Government has decided to set up an autonomous National Commission on Libraries.

As per the recommendation of the National Knowledge Commission (NKC), the government of India has decided to set up an autonomous “National Commission on Libraries”. The commission would be set up as a statutory body to address information and learning needs of the citizens of India. The commission would also oversee the functioning of public and private libraries in India. By this way it hope to bring reform in the Libraries and Information Services (LIS) sector in India.

This is good for the LIS professionals and also in field of LIS. This may give us autonomy for the LIS area and also provides rules, regulations, guidelines, reforms etc in this sector. I hope for the best.
