Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute is an academic film school under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. It imparts postgraduate specialization programmes for both the film wing and electronic and digital medium (Television course). In addition to the two wings of film and television, the institute has also started few short-term courses / training programme in different disciplines including Library Automation.
In view of the above, the Institute’s Library and Information Department is organizing ‘Hands on Workshop on Library Discovery System (LDS)’ (4-days Programme) from 19th December to 22nd December 2019 at Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata (URL of the workshop: www.srfti.ac.in).
The main objective of the workshop is to create awareness among professionals about open source technology & its application in library and to provide library clients with a universal search and discovery experience and thereby saving them in running from pillar to post in search of relevant resources. Theme of the workshop
The main theme of the workshop is to provide theoretical foundation as well as hands-on training keeping in mind the rapid development in the domain of library automation and digitization.
The following topics will be covered:
• Koha – advanced cataloguing, OAI/PMH based data exposure, ILSDI based content negotiation • Digital Media Archiving – Resource exposure from DSpace, Omeka, Islandora and Greenstone • Discovery interface – Integration of resources from different information blocks in VuFind

The training lectures/practical/demonstration will be delivered by the eminent faculty and professionals from reputed institutes/universities/Govt. of India organizations and also from National Digital Library of India (NDL), IIT Kharagpur like:
