Book Donation! A Remarkable Initiative by St. Joseph’s College, Trichy, Tamilnadu to Support the Education of Prison Inmates!

To promote the joy of reading and foster knowledge, the Aruppe Library of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Trichy, organized a book donation drive today, February 14, 2025.

The primary aim of this noble initiative is to encourage intellectual growth!
This book donation drive was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Director of Aruppe Library, Dr. Emmanuel Arockiam S.J., and Librarian Dr. X. Mercy Angeline, with the generous support of the faculty and staff of St. Joseph’s College. The initiative also received full support from the Secretary, Rev. Dr. K. Amal S.J., and the Principal, Rev. Dr. S. Marydoss S.J.

In a special event held at the Trichy Central Prison, more than two hundred valuable books were formally handed over to the Superintendent of the prison. This book donation drive has been successfully conducted for two consecutive years.

The Superintendent of Trichy Central Prison, along with the teachers serving there, expressed heartfelt gratitude for this generous contribution. They also conveyed their appreciation, noting that this initiative exemplifies the college’s continued commitment to education, social responsibility, and community welfare.
