Sir  you have any proof please send me.

Sir,

Lots of Library professionals has been facing this problem.

As per AICTE, there is no position for librarian in Teaching or Non-Teaching.

So we should fight for this.

sir, Librarian and Assist Librarians are teaching staff  so they getting UGC salary thats all. so we need Phd or NET

Dear Sri Thrumurugan,

As per the latest norm (since the publication of new Pay Scales of 6CPC) Librarians& Dy Librarians in Universities are accepted as teaching staff. They require same scoring points as Professors (400 points) and Associate Professors (300 points) Please see the latest advertisement of Mizoram University (A Central University) Earlier, though they had respective identical pay scales (University Librarian & University Professor,  Dy University Librarians & Readers and Asst University Librarians & Lecturers had same pay scales) Library professionals were classified as Officers  like Registrar, Dy Registrar; Asst Registrar; Controller of Examination, Dy Controller of Examination, Asst. Controller of Examination etc. But now among the proverbial University Officers, only Library Professionals (Asst. University Librarians onwards) are accepted as Teaching Staff. In Colleges, at least in West Bengal, Librarians are accepted as NON-VOCATIONAL TEACHERS since long. However, as I know there is no uniformity of their status by various universities. As I understand there are several College Librarians from West Bengal in the LIS Link and they can certainly give you better clarification. You can check with Dr. Nitai Roy Chaudhury, a LIS Link member and a very bright library professional in West Bengal. As I believe, he will certainly clarify  this point.

Sincerely,

Siddhartha S. Ray, Calcutta

Thank you sir.
